Buzzzzzzzzzzz - whirl - zoom - chirp!!!! Finally have captured the blur of the hummer. I took these pics through the back window where I have placed a feeder. I moved all the feeders from the front, where we couldn't watch them to the back around our deck. Now we can sit outside and watch them fly all around us. I have four feeders up and along with the hummers the orioles are feasting. How many can say they have even held a hummer in their hand? I have and it was like holding air. One of the pleasures in my life. SMILE!
Wow! The hummingbirds are gorgeous! And you get to watch them......how lucky! I love the whirr of the wings...
ReplyDeleteWe don't get a lot of hummingbirds, but we get a few, and I think they're magical.
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I ever saw one. I was fishing with my dad when I was about 11, and standing pretty close to the river I heard this noise. I turned around and it was about two feet from my head, feasting on a bloom on a bush. Needless to say, I froze, being totally mesmerized by it. It made going fishing worthwhile!
That's a great photo! hummingbirds are one of our mom's favorite things to paint.

J: Mom paints hummingbirds? How does she get em to hold still?
S: She paint pictures of them, she doesn't actually paint the birds, silly!)
Lovely! 3 at once too. Ours chase each other constantly. BTW, I had a grosbeak at my feeder last week. First one ever.
ReplyDeleteWe've tried everything to get hummingbirds. We're hoping that our hummingbird/butterfly garden will bring them to us next year. We do have loads of butterflies!!
