Well if all the snow we have gotten isn't enough, last night and all through the dat we have had freezing drizzle. Thing is the temps are around 25 degrees, so how do you get rain which turns into ice? Everything has atleast 1/4 to 1/2 " of the stuff. Power has flickered a few times but so far has stayed on. Atleast if we lose power we still have heat {wood stove}. Plus two prpane heaters that do not require electricity to run.

Was pretty comical though whenI let the barn kitties outside {been couped up about a week now} they came running out and hit that ice. Started cracking under their paws and they took off running, but the more they ran the more ice cracked underneath them. So they didn't stay out long. Then I let my two boys out! They did the same thing, but with their wt. { over 1,000 lbs.} they really made some noice. They couldn't figure out the noice so they were bucking and snorting! They are such big boobs, Ozzie the younger one was breaking the ice up then chewing it, like we humans do with ice cubes. Those two are good for a laugh.
Yesterday feel guilty for not trying to go to the creek and see if the duck and canadian goose where still around, to be fed, I decided to trek over. Well that was a tough go, since the snow was up to my butt! I would go a few steps catch my breath do a few more and so on until I made it to the creek. And there she was my canadian goose, with out the duck. So she came out of the water but wouldn't come to me to eat, so here I was for almost an hour trudging back and forth through all that snow trying to get to her only to have her flap against the snow with her winds and sort of run over the snow. So I finally said here is the food, cleared an area down to the grass and out down bread and corn. Hopefully she came over. And then today coming from behind the barn I looked toward the creek and there was the duck walking the creek. But it wouldn't come over either, just kept walking around the bend to the creek by the road, hopefully he met up with "Weebles" the goose. Told hub that tomorrow I would try treking over there again. Ice will make it hard but atleast I have somewhat of a path. Atleast I get a workout lol.

  1. That is so nice of you to feed the duck & goose. Something that I would do ...

  2. You certainly live in a snowy place! Sounds like all of your animals are having quite the experience with it, and the ice.

  4. BRRRRRR we usually get ice around here (not pretty snow) so I feel for you. We have been in that arctic grip here in So. Oklahoma but no snow or ice. Our high today is 23 with the wind chill feeling like it is -1...way too cold for me!!! So nice that you are feeding the goose and duck. I can't imagine how they stay in the water in that kind of cold!
